I love Courtney Kerr.
She’s a reality star from the Bravo
channel whose life I've been following for a few years. (By “life” I mean I've been watching her on TV and pretending we’re friends.)
She is a funny girl, Texas to the core and a full time
fashion blogger. Her style is current, relatable and appropriate. (She went off
on a rant one time about the wrongness of wearing stilettos with a bikini that
made me stand up and clap in my living room.)
A few months ago, I heard Courtney talking about how she was
able to attend fashion shows now that she is a full time write.
I’m a full time writer, too! (Well, I’m a full time diaper
changer, but I write a lot.)
I want to go to a fashion show!
I am lucky enough to live just outside of a city that hosts
an amazing fashion week. Charleston Fashion Week has been growing in size and notoriety as well as gaining the
respect of the industry. In years past, I had watched in awe as the big tents
were set up in Marion Square and gazed longingly at the glossy pictures that
would appear around town after the big week.
As I thought about the possibility of actually attending a
real fashion show, I was filled with courage and before it could fade, I
applied for media passes to the Bridal Show.
A few weeks later I received an email approving me for media
passes. I was thrilled. Overjoy. Ecstatic.
And freaking out. What do you wear to a
fashion show? More specifically, what does a mom of two littles, who is just at
the beginning of her weight loss journey and barely out of maternity pant wear
to a fashion show?
Courtney was my only hope. I tweeted her and she responded. (See
we are friends.)
OK, so her answer wasn't super specific, but I think it was
good. She basically suggests I just wear what makes me happy.
My shopping trip was a success and I ended up with a Cynthia Rowley dress and a pair of Nine West heels.
Did you know anyone can go to Charleston Fashion Week?
They sell tickets to civilians. Attending the event as a member of the media
was an honor and amazing, but if you are at all interested in this kind of
stuff, buy a ticket and go. I think this
would make an awesome girls night or morning out. You can dress up and sip a Mimosa
while you gawk and judge the latest fashions.
The light bulbs flash and the crowd ooos and ahhhs and it is simply
magical.
And stay tuned for my complete recap of the Bridal Fashion
show from CFW 2014.
This is really true!! I suck at sticking to a plan and usually give up on myself fast. Congrats on 10 days!! I really want to try hip hop abs, but I am seriously cheap and cant afford it! I can't wait for your review!
